Mitchell Park operates on an annual subscription system. Memberships begin with the start of the competitive season on 1st April and finish 31st March the following year. As the year progresses the amount of the memberships decrease but they all end on the 31st March. Exceptions to this rule can be made with Management Committee approval.
Another exception is the Pay-to-Play membership. This sort of membership differs from the rest because you pay for each game you play; like casual court hire, but you get a key that gives you access to the building when the Pro Shop and Bar is closed.
Mitchell Park uses an electronic court management system, the first of its type in the country. Members are issued with key-tags that gives them 24 hour access to the building. Some members start their early morning runs from the Complex during the week, leaving their gear safely secured inside, and finish with a quick sauna before heading off to work or home for breakfast.
The 2001 Annual Report for Squash New Zealand showed Mitchell Park had the largest membership of the Wellington regional clubs for that year. However it is not the number of members that makes Mitchell Park special, it's the spread of the levels.
While some clubs may be strong in one or two grades, Mitchell Park members range from national representatives like Glenn Wilson to adults and juniors playing a racket sport for the first time.
Mitchell Park has numerous juniors and masters as members. In fact a couple of families have three generations playing at various levels of the game.
