BUSINESS HOUSE TENNIS COMPETITION

-         FORMAT & RULES – 2004

 

FORMAT for   TUESDAY competition.

4 players per team. Doubles only. Teams may be mixed.

Play is at the Mitchell Park Tennis Centre commencing at 7pm sharp and expected to be completed by approx 9:30pm. The competition will consist of an initial 12 teams using 2 courts.

 

Each team member will play 3 games to 9 with short deuces.

Players 1 & 2 will play 1 set to 9 against their respective opponents

Players 3 & 4 will play 1 set to 9 against their respective opponents

Players 1 & 3 will play 1 set to 9 against their respective opponents

Players 2 & 4 will play 1 set to 9 against their respective opponents

Players 1 & 4 will play 1 set to 9 against their respective opponents

Players 2 & 3 will play 1 set to 9 against their respective opponents

 

In the event of the match reaching 3 – 3 a count back of games will be required.

 

FORMAT for   WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY competition.

3 players per team. Doubles only. Teams may be mixed.

Play is at the Mitchell Park Tennis Centre commencing at 7pm sharp as floodlights switch off automatically at 10:30pm. The competition consists of an initial 5 matches followed by a playoff of 3 rounds.

 

Each team member will play 2 sets as follows:

Players 1 & 2 will play 2 sets against their respective opponents

Players 1 & 3 will play 2 sets against their respective opponents

Players 2 & 3 will play 2 sets against their respective opponents

 

In the event of the match reaching 6-6, a tie-breaker will apply.

An incomplete set at finish time will be awarded to the team leading on completed games. This applies when the lights switch off, or when rain intervenes after the start of the fourth set, at which point the contest is deemed to be a “match”.

 

 

The draw for the evening will be posted in the Mitchell Park Pro Shop window and in the foyer on the notice board.

 

RESULT SHEETS:   

List players on result sheets in order of playing ability.

Follow the sequence of play as shown on the result sheet.

Please ensure result sheets are fully completed and handed in at the pro shop or in the box at the foyer.

 

SCORING SYSTEM:

One point for each set won. Two bonus points for the winning team. If there is a draw on sets, there will be a count back on games won.

 

           

TENNIS BALLS:

One new pair of Slazenger Championship tennis balls must be provided every second week by each team. Balls are available for purchase at Mitchell Park Tennis Centre Pro Shop for $20.00 per can of 4 balls or $37 for two cans. If you require a carton of balls that have 1 dozen ask at the pro shop and we could make a deal.

WEATHER DISRUPTIONS:

When the weather is doubtful, the decision to cancel will be made no sooner than 5:30pm on the night. Cancellations will be recorded on the answerphone/fax 567-2988
